Sadie Melissa (Owens) McHargue

Sadie Melissa Owens McHargue, 93, of Shep­herdsville, KY and Dun­edin, FL passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at her residence in Shepherdsville, KY. Sadie was a native of Gilmore in (Green Co.), IN and grew up in Mt. Vernon, KY.  She also resided in Louisville, KY, Pekin, IN and Tarpon Springs, FL.  She was a "snow-bird" and divided her time between Dunedin, FL and Shepherdsville, KY. She was a licensed funeral director and worked with her hus­band, the late Billy Mc­Hargue, managing the old McDaniel Funeral Home in Highland Park where they also resided She was a member of both Shepherdsville First Baptist Church and Beacon Baptist Church in Hudson, FL.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy McHargue; her parents, Oscar and Louise Owens; and siblings, Virginia "Bernice" McEldred, Norman Lee Owens and Wynona "Sharon" Burton.

            She is survived by her children, Frank Marion Whitehouse of Louisville and LoAnn Talbott & (Rick) of Tarpon Dunedin, FL and Shepherdsville, KY; grand­children, Melissa Doyle & (Michael), Heather Skaggs & (Keith), Brian Short & (Jennifer), Kirk Whitehouse & (Cara), Steven Short & (Dawn), and Adrienne Williams & (Jeff); seven great grandchil­dren, and sister, Carol Barnett of Mt. Vernon, KY.

            Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie McHargue will be conducted 1 PM Tuesday June 11, 2019 at the Cox Funeral Home with Bro. Luther Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3-8pm Monday at the Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road in Louisville, and after 11am Tuesday until the time of the service at Cox Funeral Home.
