Rachael Gardner Obituary

Rachael Reneé Fields Gardner, 51, was born April 30, 1970, in Norton, Va. and left this earth on January 20, 2022, from Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ky. She was taken from us too soon, but her memory will remain with us forever.

Rachael touched so many lives and will never be forgotten by anyone that was fortunate enough to have known her. She would have wanted everyone to enjoy every day, to be kind and compassionate, make memories, take more pictures and love. To honor her memory please cherish each day as tomorrow is never promised. In Rachael’s words, “You only live once.”

Rachael was preceded in death by her daughter, Shayna Reneé Gardner; her grandparents, Curtis and Dorothy Fields, Sid and Ruble Hall; and her father-in-law, Fitzhugh Gardner.

She will always be remembered by her husband of 31 years, Tony Gardner of Mt. Vernon, KY; daughter, Jordan Brooke Blanton and her husband Adam Blanton of North Pole, AK; a son, Adam Gardner of Richmond, KY; her parents, Bruce Fields Sr. and Annette Hall Fields of Norton, VA; three brother, Bruce Fields, Jr. and his wife Tina Jennings Fields of Nashville, TN, Jason Fields of Norton; and Jon Fields and his wife Mary Mayshark Fields of CA; a sister, Kristen Fields Martin and her husband Kevin Martin of Roanoke, VA; a brother-in-law, Tim Gardner and his wife Mandy Gardner of Norton, VA; a sister-in-law, Jessica Gardner Caudill and her husband Brian Caudill of Norton, VA; her mother-in-law, Norma Gardner of Norton, VA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday, January 24, 2022, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Private graveside services will be the next day at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, Va.

In consideration of everyone’s health the family asks that masks be worn during the visitation and service.
