Mr. Paul Benton “Toddy” Payne age 66, of Mt.Vernon passed away on Tuesday April 6, 2021 in Brodhead. He was born on April 23, 1954 in Rockcastle County the son of the late Cecil and Ada Hines Payne. He was a logger and owner and operator of Payne Logging. He enjoyed Mopars, mowing, spending time with family, friends, grandchildren, and was a member of the Holiness faith.
Survivors are: his wife of 47 years; Mrs. Connie Sue Sowder Payne of Mt.Vernon. Two sons; Derrick Payne and (Amber), and Rodney Payne and (Ashley) all of Mt.Vernon. Four sisters: Louise Mink, Ruth Etta Kirby, and Rita Payne all of Mt.Vernon. Three grandchildren; Jeffery Slayton Payne, Adasynn La’Faye Payne, and Hailey Elizabeth Payne all of Mt. Vernon. A host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and one very special friend Jim Prewitt also survive. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by: one son; Jeffrey Payne, by one infant child, and by one sister; Linda Sue Payne.
Funeral services for Mr. Paul Benton “Toddy” Payne will be conducted at 2 PM on Friday April 9, 2021 at Higher Praise Ministries with Bro. Chris Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Cox Funeral Home. Friends may visit at the Church from 6 to 9PM Thursday. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, face masks are required, social distancing is encouraged, and church capacity will be limited to 60%.
