Evelyn Fern Farris

Mrs. Evelyn Fern Farris age 79, of Brodhead passed away peacefully at home on Saturday July 14, 2018. She was born on January 14, 1939 in Pulaski County the daughter of the late Oran and Edith Gooch Abbott. She was a homemaker, a member of the Liberty Baptist Church, a former employee of Cowder Mfg. in Stanford and Rockcastle Regional Hospital. She along with her husband “Doc” Brown also operated a dairy farm for several years.

            Survivors are: two sons; Mike Brown & Sue of Crab Orchard, and Lonnie “Buck” Brown of Brodhead. One daughter; Patricia Holt & Mike of Mt.Washington. One special caregiver who was like a daughter; Marlene Brown of Brodhead. Two sisters; Glenda Deane York of Eubank, and Marilyn Taylor of Somerset. Grandchildren; Melissa Burchell of Lebanon, Jennifer Dean of Charlestown, IN, James Stringer of Science Hill, Kristi Brown of Buford, GA, Cody Brown and Hallie Brown of Mt.Vernon, and Nichole Goodson of Berea, Thirteen Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandchild also survives. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by: her 1st husband; James E. “Doc” Brown, by her 2nd husband; James Farris, and by two brothers; Arlis & Marvin Abbott.

            Memorial services for Mrs. Evelyn Fern Farris will be conducted 2 PM Wednesday July 18, 2018 at the Cox Funeral Home with Bro. Zandel Hasty officiating. Friends may visit from 12 Noon until time of service on Wednesday.
