Charles Robert Shepherd Jr.

Mr. Charles Robert Shepherd Jr., age 89 of Mt.Vernon passed away on Wednesday November 22, 2023 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. He was born on May 23, 1934 in Rockcastle County the son of the late Charles Robert and Mable Howard Shepherd. He was a retired Captain at the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond, was a Marine Veteran, enjoyed farming, shooting, reading, bee keeping, and loved Wildcat Basketball.

            Survivors are: one son; Rodney Shepherd and (Tracy) of Gainsville, GA. One daughter; Amy Mink and (Perry) of Mt.Vernon. One grandson; Conor Richard Shepherd also survives. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by: his wife of 60 years; Phyllis Ballinger Shepherd, and by two brothers; Manuel and Dempsey Shepherd. 

            Funeral services for Mr. Charles Robert Shepherd Jr. will be conducted at 3 PM on Saturday November 25, 2023 at the Cox Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Doan officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

            Arrangements are by the Cox Funeral Home where friends may visit from 12 Noon until time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice.
